Safety First: Keeping Our Riders Safe

We require all riders to wear a helmet while riding. A Bicycle helmet is acceptable for the first few lessons, but a properly approved riding helmet is recommended.

Riders must also wear boots with a heel – no running shoes! Many beginning riders start out with rubber riding boots, which are perfectly acceptable.

We do have a small stock of helmets and boots available to borrow, but we do recommend that riders have their own equipment. These things are worthwhile purchases, available at any of the local Tack Shops. Feel free to ask us for an example of what to get and where best to get them.

For our riders that are ready to lease a horse and/or go to horse shows, we require that they have a Horse Council BC Membership. This is a $30/year membership that gives the rider a level of insurance should anything happen to horse or rider. We would love all of our riders to protect themselves in this way but we do not require it until they are leasing a horse and /or going to horse shows.
